H...Roland had his Whipple Procedure on March 30th. He healed really well from the surgery...but had a hard time keeping food down. He lost 27 pounds in two weeks.

They originally said he'd stay 7-10 days in the hospital but he stayed 23 days. Mostly because he was uncomfortable going home not being able to eat.

Today, June 10th, he can eat anything he wants to and he's back to work.

He is enjoying life with his wife and baby boy.

Roland will continue to be scanned and on the look out for more tumors on his pancreas...we were really happy that his lymph nodes came out clear but with VHL, you have to keep one eye open for any new occurances. We pray, we hope.

He still has the kidney tumors and the good news is that they will use ablation instead of surgery on them. Ablation is: an injection of radiation directly into the tumor to kill it. They use this procedure for smaller tumors on an out patient basis...knowing that a VHL patient will have multiple kidney tumors throughout their lives and the kidneys can only tolerate so many surgeries, this procedure is ideal.VHLhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04056604860564486148noreply@blogger.com
